
Elias Barnaba, a prominent figure in Tanzania’s Bongo Fleva music scene, has officially announced his entry into the film industry following the launch of his new series, Kikulacho Season 1, through his production company, High Table Film.
Speaking to journalists during the launch event, Barnaba revealed that many are unaware his artistic journey actually began with acting before he fully dedicated himself to Bongo Fleva music.
“After I suffered a burn injury, I was supposed to hold a press conference the next day for the launch of Kikulacho, but due to the incident, I had to postpone it. Today, we are officially launching this series, which will be broadcast on our YouTube channel,” Barnaba stated.
He explained that the project’s objectives are to uplift and promote new acting talents, increase competitiveness within the film industry, strengthen collaboration among artists and sector stakeholders, and expand the domestic film market.
Barnaba added that he believes the series will provide opportunities for emerging actors to showcase their abilities and build their names in the film industry.
On her part, rising actress Aisha Juma, popularly known as Khan, who is among the cast of the series, commended Barnaba for his initiative in nurturing and unveiling new talents through the project.
She noted that Barnaba’s investment in film is a significant contribution to the industry, especially for artists seeking platforms to display their skills to a wider audience.
