The Tanzania Local Government Workers Association (TALGWU), has said that it recognizes the great work done by Arusha Regional Commissioner Paul Makonda in various issues including managing development projects but is not interested in his act of humiliating a Public Servant in Longido District and that it has condemned the remarks he made.
The Head of the Information and International Relations Department of TALGWU, Shani Kibwasali has been quoted as saying the following “We are making a statement condemning the statements made by the Regional Commissioner of Arusha Hon. Paul Makonda vs. a Public Servant who is our Member, there is a short video that is circulating showing the Regional Commissioner at a public meeting and interviewing a Public Servant and making statements that violate the honor of the Employee, are humiliating and largely break the spirit and morale of working”
“I would like it to be understood that the Servant is our Member and as a Party we cannot at all turn a blind eye when a Member is subjected to actions that are against the laws, regulations, procedures, guidelines and ethics of the Public Service, we recognize the great work done by the Regional Commissioner Hon. Paul Makonda in managing various issues including managing development projects . The Head of the Region to consider the values of the Public Service when he talks to the Employees because it is not wise to give slanderous and mocking words to the Servant whether in front of the public or without the public” Shani said.
Earlier today, the Regional Commissioner Paul Makonda said that he is surprised by those who come forward to say that he is humiliating the employees where he has been quoted as saying “Those of you who make statements should continue to help me really, it helps me to work with greater morale and one day I said the Union of Wicked, Corrupt and Negligent is very big, if you want to know if you are there, touch one Lazy Lazy All the lazy people you see are showing up, or touch one corrupt person, all the corrupt people are showing up”
